Tyler Wilson Wins 4th A-10 Pitcher of the Week Award

KINGSTON, R.I. - For the fourth time this season, Rhode Island sophomore Tyler Wilson has earned Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week honors - this time following his dominant outing in Friday's A-10 series-opener against Dayton.

A native of Palmer, Mass., Wilson no-hit the Flyers through seven innings before exiting the game with a pitch count up over 100. He never faced more than four batters in an inning and finished the day with 10 strikeouts. It was his third game this season reaching double digits in the strikeout column as he has now recorded more Ks than hits allowed in 10 of his 11 starts.

With 85 strikeouts already this year, Wilson has tied the seventh-best single season total in program history and is eight shy of cracking the top-10 in career strikeouts.

The win kept Wilson perfect in the A-10 at 6-0. It also improved him to 9-1 overall, marking the most wins in a season by a Rhody pitcher since single-season record holder Steve Holmes registered 10 in 2006.

The Rhody southpaw boasts an impressive 0.78 ERA in conference games and is holding Atlantic 10 opponents to a minuscule .115 batting average over 46.0 innings pitched.

The Rams return to action on Friday afternoon when they open up their final Atlantic 10 home series of the season, against UMass. First pitch at The Beck is set for 3 p.m.
